Weak vs Weak: The Offensive Festival

Combined xERA: > 9.00 (over 9 IP)
Expected scoring: 10+ runs
Markets to target: Over (if the market undervalues it)

What happens: - Both teams score - Game is often chaotic - Bullpens deployed early

The opportunity: The public loves betting Over on these games. The market knows this and adjusts accordingly. Sometimes the total is set too high and the Under becomes value.

Look for: Situations where the market overreacts to two bad pitchers.

Step 1: Collect Pitcher Stats

Step 3: Check the Ballpark Context

Apply the Park Factor:

Why x 0.9?

xERA is calibrated over 9 innings, but pitchers do not throw 9 complete innings. The 0.9 factor adjusts for modern reality (starters ~5.5 IP + bullpen).

The Lefty/Righty Matchup

Some pitchers dominate left-handed hitters but struggle against right-handers (or vice versa).
